In a class test, 3 marks are awarded for every correct answer and (-2) marks are awarded for every incorrect answer and no marks for not answering any questions.
1.Rahul scored 20 marks. If he got 12 correct answers, how many questions has he attempted incorrectly?
2.Savitha scored (-5) marks though she got 7 correct answers .How many questions has she attempted incorrectly?

i.
Marks obtained by Rahul = 20
For 12 correct answers,
total marks = 12 × 3 = 36
Marks obtained for incorrect answer = 20 - 36 = -16
Number of incorrect answer = (-16) ÷ (-2) = 8
Therefore, he attempted 8 questions incorrectly.
ii.
Marks obtained by Savitha = -5
For 7 correct answers,
total marks = 7 × 3 = 21
Marks obtained for incorrect answer = -5 - 21 = -26
Number of incorrect answer = (-26) ÷ (-2) = 13
Therefore, he attempted 13questions incorrectly.
