I couldn't understand decimal expansion in the number system chapter?

The decimal expansion of a number is its representation in base 10.

 

The decimal expansion of a rational number is either terminating or non-terminating recurring. Also, a number whose decimal expansion is terminating or non-terminating recurring is rational.

 

The decimal expansion of an rational number is non-terminating non-recurring. Also, a number whose decimal expansion is non-terminating non-recurring is irrational.
