ICSE Class 9 Answered
how does the proper insulation of home save energy?
Asked by Vishal | 02 Feb, 2018, 08:40: PM
Expert Answer
In home insulation is done in cold countries by having double layer of glass panes in window. This helps to trap the air in between and gives good thermal insulation because air is poor conductor of heat. So in cold season outside cold climate does not make the room more cool. Hence less energy is used for heating the room. Similarly in warmer climate less heat from outside is transferred to the house rooms. Hence less energy is used for cooling.
In hot countries, a layer of mud and strawis laid over the roof of a house in between the concrete and brick tiles. This layer does not conduct heat of sun rays through roof into the room of house and thus helps to keep the room cool in summer.
