How can we find the net electric field at a point due to a charge distribution?

Expert Answer
We can apply superposition principle to find the resultant electrostatic force at a point due to multiple charges.
Let’s consider a group of charges , , , …, etc with position vectors , , , …, etc with respect to a given point P.

Then according to the superposition principle net electric field at P due to the system of charges is the vector sum of the electric field due to each charge at P.
