CBSE Class 12-science Answered
Can we use a negative test charge to tell the direction of electric field at a point?

Expert Answer
The direction of force on the negative test charge due to electric field is opposite to direction of field. If the test charge is positive, the direction of force and field are the same.
So the field direction will remain same regardless of whether you use a positive or negative test charge to determine it.
