Angle subtended by arc, θ = arc length / radius of arc = (  begin mathsize 14px style l end style / r )

arc length begin mathsize 14px style l end style= diameter of earth = 2 × 6400 km = 12800 km

radius of arc  r = distance between earth and moon = 3.84 × 108 m

Angular diameter of earth from moon in radian =  ( 12800 × 1000 ) / ( 3.84 × 108 ) = 3.333 × 10-2 rad

Angular diameter of earth from moon in degree =   [ 3.333 × 10-2 × ( 180/π) ] o

If Angular diameter of earth is experessed as ( σ π )o  , then σ = [ 3.333 × 10-2 × ( 180/π2) ] = 0.608
