A galvanometer needs 50mV for full scale deflection of 50 divisions.find it's voltage sensitivity.whatmust be the galvanometer resistance if it's current sensitivity is 1 Div/A

Expert Answer
Voltage senstivity = number of divisions / full scale voltage = 50 divisions / 50 mV = 1 division / 1 mV
Current sensitivity = 1 division/ 1 A
If galvanometer has 50 divisions , then full scale current = 50 A
when 50A passes through galvanometer , we should get 50 mV voltage drop across shunt resistance R
Hence , we have 50 × R = 50 × 10-3 V or R = 0.001 Ω
