a conductor carries a current in the direction of south. find the direction of magnetic field

Using right hand thimb rule i.e. if we represet the direction of current by our thumb then the magnetic fields due to that current is represented by the curl of fingers around the conductor.
Thus above the conductor, the magnetic field are directed towards the west and below the conductor they are directed towards east.
