ICSE Class 9 Answered
A beam of light is supposed to be deviated through 60 degree by a plane mirror? What must be the angle between mirror and the direction of incident light? Explain with diagram?

Expert Answer
As shown in figure, when the incident ray deviates by 60º after reflection means,
reflected ray makes an angle 30° with mirror and other 30° is made with undeviated light ray behind the mirror.
As seen from figure, by symmetry and due to law of reflection ( angle of incidence equals angle of reflection),
incident ray makes an angle 30° with mirror.
angle of incidence = angle of reflection = 60º
