7. A drawing pin is pushed against a wooden table with a force of 10 N.
Calculate the pressure exerted by the pin at a point on a table, if the area of the point is 180 cm2 .
 
Solution: - 
Force, F  =10 N 
Pressure, P  =? 
Area, A = 180 cm2 = 0.018 m2 
 
We know,

We say that pressure is defined as the amount of force exerted on an unit area and if the area is decreased, pressure increases For example an iron nail would be applying more pressure than any other thing let's say 100 N per m square but the question is an iron nail doesn't cover an area of m square so why do we say 100 N per m square
