Pictures: Devotees prepare for Ganesh Chaturthi

As devotees get ready to bring Lord Ganesh home, here are some pictures of idols being prepared and carted across the city of Mumbai. Tuesday was an auspicious day for Maharashtrians as they celebrated Angarika Sankashti.

Many Maharashtrians observe a fast and break it late in the night after prayers to Lord Ganesha.

The idols have been prepared for the Ganesh festival, "Ganesh Chaturthi", a popular 12-day religious festival which is annually celebrated across India, this year running September 19-30.
