Why the direction of dipole is from negative electric charge to positive electric charge.

Expert Answer:

It is so because to give the right direction of torque which is vector product of dipole moment and electric field. We notice that if the dipole moment is from positive to negative then we get the wrong or opposite direction of the torque.
