why light travels faster than the sound?

Expert Answer:

Dear student
Light waves are electro-magnetic waves and hence they travel with the speed of sound but sound waves are mechanical waves which need a material medium for their propagation and hence cannot travel at speed greater than that of light.
We hope this clarifies your doubt.
