Why is Electric Flux a Scalar quantity and what is the exact definition of electric field?Is electric Field a scalar quantity too?

Electrical flux is simply the product of electric field passing through an area of cross section. Mathematically, electric flux is the dot product between the electric field vector (yes electric field is a vector quantity) and the area vector.
Electric field at a particular location in space is the electric force acting on a unit test charge at that particular location in space. Since force is directional as always, so does the eletric field.
