Why irrigation is important?

Following is the importance of irrigation:
i. Irrigation with fresh water supplies hydrogen and oxygen to plants.
ii. Irrigation provides enough moisture to soil for the germination of seeds.
iii. Irrigated soil is soft and new roots can very well penetrate and grow.
iv. Irrigation causes increase in number of tillers in crop plants as they cannot grow in dry soil.
v. Irrigation helps in the absorption of minerals and salts by roots which are necessary for the growth and development of plants.
