Why does a drop of water stick to the surface of glass
Asked by goyal.sanjeev8204 | 14 Jun, 2019, 14:11: PM
This depends on the difference betwen the magnitude of adhesive and cohesive forces.
Cohesive forces: This force acts between the same type of molecules.Eg between molecules of water
adhesive forces: This force acts between different types of molecules.E.g glass and water molecules
In case of water and glass, adhesive forces are stronger than the cohesive forces and hence water molecules stick to the surface of glass.
