when reactants are h2+O2 combines the products are h2O.....why O is not 2

Water is a covalent compound because H and O both are non-metals.
One H need 1 electron to become stable and one O need 2 electron to become stable. So, In chemical reaction one O combine with two H so that both can be stable and H2O is formed.
