What was General Service enlistment Act? When was it passed?

The General Service enlistment Act was passed in 1856. According to this Act, According to this Act, an Indian sepoy working under the British, had to travel overseas whenever required by the Company. It was believed by the Hindus that one could loose his caste status and religion if he crosses the seas. The sepoys thought that the Company was trying to defame their religion.
