Expert Answer
Upthrust is caused due to the upward force which is exerted by a liquid on the body which is immersed in it.
It is due to this force that the heavy objects seems to be lighter when immersed in a liquid. When an object is immersed in a liquid the buoyant force acts in all directions.
This upthrust goes on increasing with a increasing depth.
