what is meant by a real, erect ,virtual and diminished image?

An image is said to be real if the rays of light after refraction through a lens actually meet at a point. It is always inverted and can be brought to focus on a screen
An image is said to be virtual if the rays of light after refraction through a lens seem to come from a point . A virtual image is always erect and it cannot be brought to focus on a screen.
An upright image of an object is said to be erect.
If the size of the image formed is smaller than the object, the image is said to be diminished.
