What exactly happens while rubbing a glass rod and silk cloth that electrons get transferred from the glass to silk cloth?

Expert Answer
Due to friction we have to rub them and we have to work against friction.That work convert in to heat energy and due to this heat energy , the electrons become free from the material atom and go to the other material. Due to this process one material has excess of electrons and other has lacking of electrons and both become charged.
