Expert Answer
The term ‘The Triangular Trade’ refers to trade between India, England and China.
England was the biggest buyer of tea and silk from China. The popularity for tea increased tremendously.
England at that time sold almost nothing to China. As a result, they had to pay for tea in silver coins. This meant regular outflow of money, but no intake of anything in return.
To stop the regular outflow of treasure, the British decided to sell opium grown in Bengal (India) to China in exchange for tea.
