Line Communication- In this, the channel is a line (either a coaxial cable carrying signal in the form of a electric signal or a optical cable carrying optic signal) joining the transmitter to the receiver. Point to point mode of transmission needs line communication. Telephones, Fax, Data transmission from one person to another person make use of line communication.
Space Communication- In space communication the EM wave signals are transmitted from transmitter to receiver through free space. For this purpose we need two antennas, one connected to the transmitter and other joined to the receiver. Electromagnetic wave signals may be transmitted by surface wave, sky wave or space wave modes. Radio broadcasts and TV telecasts make use of space communication. The different modes used are ground wave mode, Sky wave mode, space wave mode and using satellite communication.
