Let the present age father = x years and
son's present age = y years
According to the first condition,
(x - 2) = 5(y -2)
x - 5y = -8   ...........(i)
According to the second condition,
(x + 2) = 3(y + 2)+ 8
x - 3y = 12  ........(ii)

Solving(i) and (ii) simultaneously, we get

y = 10 and x = 42
Therefore the present age of father is 42 years and present age of son is 10 years.
