The refractive index of diamond is 2.42.What is the meaning of this statement in realation to speed of light?

REFRACTIVE INDEX OF A MEDIUM = (speed of light in vaccum)/(speed of light in medium)
The refractive index of diamond is 2.42. It means that ratio of the speed of light in vaccum or air to the spped of light in diamond is 2.42.
