Expert Answer

Let each side of the square be x units.

Dimensions of rectangle obtained by folding the square are

Length of rectange = x units

Breadth of rectangle = x/2 units

Perimeter of rectangle = x + x + x/2 + x/2 = 3x

Since, the perimeter is given as 12

3x = 12

x = 4 units.

Perimeter of square = 4x = 16.
