Reserved

Protected

Forests that produced commercially valuable timber like deodar or sal were declared ‘Reserved’.

In these forests some customary grazing rights were granted to the pastoralists.

No pastoralist was allowed access to these forests.

Even though they were granted rights, their movements were severely restricted.
