Expert Answer
Various Forests Act changed the lives of Indian pastoralists in the following manner:
• They were now prevented from entering many forests that had earlier provided valuable pasture for their cattle.
• Even after being allowed entry, their movements were regulated.
• The pastoralists required permission for entry. Further, timing of their entry and departure was specified.
• Pastoralists were not allowed to remain in the specified area even if ample forage was available. The permits given by Forest Departments restricted the number of days which they could spend in the forests.
