Figure shows the image formation by concave lens . AB is object and A'B' is image .
OB is the lens-to-object distance u and OB' is lens to image distance v .
F1 is focal point and OF1 is the focal distance f
The relation between lens-to-object distance u , lens-to-image distance v and
focal length f is given by lens equation as
(1/v) - (1/u) = 1/f
By cartesian sign convention , distances u , v and f all are negative
