A transformer's core is made from soft iron because it has low coercivity, which means that it is easily magnetized and demagnetized, and low retentivity, which means that it does not retain a magnetic field when a magnetic field is removed.
Hence a is correct option among the following.
 
Note:
  • Coercivity is the magnetic material's resistance to changes in magnetization, which can be the field intensity required to demagnetize the magnetic material.
  • Retentivity is the ability of magnetic materials to retain magnetization or the strength of the magnetic field that remains in magnetization after the external magnetic field has been removed.
