The electric field on infinite rod has two components, 
Ex and Ey 
 
The electric field for x-component at distance 'r' from the infinite rod is, 
 
E subscript x equals fraction numerator lambda over denominator 2 pi epsilon subscript 0 r end fraction 
and 
Ey = 0
 
Thus, 
E subscript n e t end subscript space equals space fraction numerator lambda over denominator 2 pi epsilon subscript 0 r end fraction
