Expert Answer

   the equation  3x2 --kx   --2 =0  has  one of the root  as 2 ,

 3(2) --k (2)  --2 ==0   ====>   12 - 2k - 2 = 0 ==> k = 5

 the equation  becomes  3 x--5x -2 ==0

 the  factors  are  (3x  +1 ) ( x --2) ==0

 therefore the other  root of the equation is   -- 1 /3
