Reflection medium of light.

The light is travelling in a medium say air, water, etc. When it strikes the mirror, it may be absorbed, transmitted or come back to same medium. Here, come back to same medium means "after hitting the body/mirror, it turns back and travels in the same medium, that is, air, water, etc.".
 
Thus, we can say that light travelling in a medium, after reflection from a surface, travels back in the same medium.
