Read the prose carefully and answer the questions based on
it:-
Once upon a time, a farmer was returning home from his
farm. On the way, he saw a bird with a wounded wing. Kind as he was, he
picked it up and brought it home. He began to nurse it though his
quarrelsome wife scolded him bitterly for wasting his time on the bird.
In a few days, the bird's wound healed up and once
again, it was able to fly about. The bird didn't want that his wife for its
sake should rebuke the farmer any more. So, when the farmer was away in his
farm, it flew away and reached its nest. All its companions welcomed its
return. When the bird told them about the farmer, they praised the farmer
for his kindness.
When the farmer came home, he felt sad to find that
the bird had gone. He had grown very fond of it and felt very upset without
it. He went in search of the bird and finally reached its nest.
The bird's companions greeted the noble farmer and
praised him for what he had done for their friend. As a token of their
thanks, they gave him a small box telling him not to open it till he got
back home.
Having reached home, the farmer opened the box. How
happy he was to find precious stones in it! When his wife saw it, decided
to go to the birds. She hoped for a reward for her too.
The birds had known about her unkind nature and her
dislike for birds. They gave her a
box, which was full of toads and scorpions. When she opened it, they jumped
at her and stung her all over. She was badly injured. Soon, she realized
the value of being kind.
