polysaccharides are not sweet in taste and called non-sugars. but how come starch(in potatoes) is sweet even though it is a polysaccharide??

Starch will not taste sweet like this. But when we eat it, it is broken down by enzyme Salivary amylase to monosaccarides which are sweet in taste.
