Point D and E are the midpoint of sides ABand AC of a triangle.  If the length  of line segment  DE=6.5, what is the length of BC?

Since D and E are mid points of side AB and AC, DE is parallel to BC.
ΔADE and ΔABC are similar triangles. sides are in the ratio 1:2 .
 
if DE = 6.5 cm, then BC = 13 cm
