Mirage is a naturally occurring optical phenomenon caused due to total internal reflection of light wherein an image some distant object appears displaced from its true position; often observed in deserts and coal-tarred roads on hot summer day. It's of two types: Inferior mirage Superior mirage ( looming) Critical angle for a given pair of media is defined as the angle of incidence in the denser medium for which the angle of refraction in the rarer medium is 900.
