Dear Student
5 sin a + 3cos a= 4; say 3 sin a -5 cos a=X
Aquare both the equations
25sin²a + 15sin a cos a + 9cos²a = 16
9sin²a - 15sin a cos a + 25cos²a = x²
Now add both equations:
34sin²a + 34cos²a = 16 + x²
34(sin²a+cos²a) = 16+x²
34 = 16 + x²
x² = 18
x = +/ - 4.2426
