As an individual, we can reduce consumption of natural resources by using the three R's - Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.
Reduce means to use less. For example, we can save electricity by switching off unnecessary lights and fans. Similarly, consumption of water and food can also be done judiciously.
In Recycle, we can collect materials like plastic, paper and glass items and recycle them to make required things instead of synthesising or extracting fresh plastic, paper or glass.
In Reuse strategy, we use things again and again. For example, instead of throwing away used envelopes, you can reverse it and use it again.
These three methods will help us to conserve the existing natural resources so that they can last for many generations and will not merely be exploited for short-term gains.
