Let AO be the horizontal plane mirror . OR is another mirror kept so that ray PQ will be reflected by this second mirror
in a such a way that final reflected ray is horizontal .
Incident ray PQ makes angle of incidence 45° , hence angle of reflection for reflected ray QR also 45° .
Since it is required that final reflected ray is horizontal, i.e., parallel to mirror AO,
hence QRS is 45° ( refer figure ).
Ray QR incident on second mirror with angle of incidence 22.5° and is getting reflected with angle of reflection 22.5°.
By symmetry QRO will be 67.5°
Hence angle between mirrors, ROQ = 180° - ( RQO + QRO ) = 180° - (67.5° + 45° ) = 67.5°
