It takes 8 minutes fro light to reach from the sun to the earth surface .if a speed of light is taken to be 3×100000000 m /s find the distance from the sun to the earth in km.

Distance between the sun and the earth
=time taken by light to reach earth × speed of light
= 8 min × 3 × 108 m/ s
= 8 × 60 s × 3 × 108
= 1.44 × 1011 m
=1.44 ×108 km
