How to identify between the permanent slides of root and stem?

Differences between dicot root and dicot stem:

Dicot root

Dicot stem

  • Epiblema consists of single layer of compactly arranged cells.
  • Epidermis is made of parenchyma cells while hypodermis is made of collenchyma cells.
  • Ground tissue is differentiated into cortex, endodermis, pericycle, and pith.
  • Ground tissue is differentiated into cortex, endodermis, pericycle, medullary rays and pith.
  • 2 to 6 alternate bundles of xylem and phloem.
  • Vascular bundle are wedge-shaped and arranged in a ring.
  • Xylem bundles are exarch while xylem vessels are polygonal.
  • Vascular bundles are conjoint, collateral, open and endarch.
