Expert Answer
Pi-bonds are formed by lateral overlapping between two hybridised p-orbitals.
Now, in the case of [Ag(CN)2]–, two nitrile groups are having triple bonds between carbon and nitrogen are bonded to the silver atom to form the compound.
[N≡C-Ag-C≡N]–
A nitrile group have one sigma and two pi-bonds, Hence [Ag(CN)2]– will have four pi-bonds.
