How far should a concave mirror be placed of focal length 24cm in order to obtain a sharp foccused image . Object is placed 8cm from the screen ????

We have mirror equation, begin mathsize 12px style 1 over v plus 1 over u space equals space 1 over f end style..................(1)
where v is mirror-to-image distance, u is mirror-to-object distance and f is focal length.
 
as seen from figure v = u+8.
 
hence substituting for v and f in eqn.(1), we have,  begin mathsize 12px style fraction numerator 1 over denominator u plus 8 end fraction plus 1 over u space equals space 1 over 24 end style..................(2)
solving eqn/(2) for u, we get u = 44.33 cm.
 
hence mirror should be placed 44.33 cm from object
