Expert Answer:

Determination of type of lens:
  • A layman can only analyse the spectacle's design and determine the type of lens which has been used.
  • If the lenses are bulging outward then the lens are convex lenses and are used to correct hypermetropia.
  • Similarly, if the lenses are tending to shape inward or towards the observer's eye, then the lenses used in spectacle are concave lenses and they are used to correct myopia.
