  • Carbonated water also called sparkling water is water containing dissolved carbon dioxide gas, either artificially injected under pressure or occurring due to natural geological processes.
  • Carbon dioxide is one of the reactants in photosynthesis.
  • If we consider photosynthesis process, the rate of photosynthesis depends on the concentration of carbon dioxide.
  • If the concentration of carbon dioxide is increased, the rate of photosynthesis will therefore increase. 
  • Ideally, if sparkling water contains dissolved carbon dioxide gas, it should result in better photosynthesis as the availability of carbon dioxide to the plant increases.
