Qn.44 :-  If mercury drop moves towards container, pressure in container-I increases.
For ideal gas, pressure increases if temperature increases or volume decreases.
 
Hence answer to the question :- (C)   I and IV

Qn.(45) :-  if mercury is stationary, then pressure on both side is same. 
If temperature is same and pressure is also same for two containers of different volume containg same gas,
then number of moles of gases are proportional to volume. More number of moles means more mass.
 
Hence answer is :- (D) mass is proportional to container volume
