Let the length of the ladder be l

Let the height upto the ladder's top end from ground be h

Let the distance between the wall and the foot of the ladder be p

Then according to the question,

sinx=h/l, cosx=p/l

siny=(h-b)/ l ,cosy=(p+a) / l

So, we get, h-(l siny) =b

and             (l cosy) - p= a

now you can find a/b using above equations for values of  h and p.
