Let the current divide at point-C as i1 and i2
Due to similar branching at D, currents will combine at D as i2 and i1 as shown in figure.
If R Ω is the resistance connected between A and B, current passing through central ressitor from A to B is (i1 - i2)

Let us apply Kirchoff's voltage law to the loop C-A-B-C :-

-2 i1 - (i1 - i2 ) R + 3 i2  = 0    or  ( i1 / i2 ) = (R+3)/(R+2)  .............(1)

By property of ratio and proportion, we write eqn.(1) as,    ( i1 - i2 ) / ( i1 + i2 ) = 1/(2R+5)  ..................(2)

since we have, ( i1 + i2 ) = 2 A ,  from eqn.(2), we get,   ( i1 - i2 ) = 2 / (2R+5) ....................(3)

hence potential drop between A and B is,   ( i1 - i2 )×R = [ 2R / (2R+5) ] V
