Explain when the incident ray is parallel to emergent ray?

Expert Answer:

Actually the incident ray overlaps with emergent ray in the above case.

For the first surface:

sin0=μsin0 ...(1)

then on the second surfacewe have:

μsin0=sinr' ...(2)

Hence both incident and emergent rays are parallel.
